Sergio Marchionne: A Tribute

Everyone at H.R. Owen was saddened to learn of the passing of Sergio Marchionne, a titan of the automotive industry, at the age of 66.
Sergio Marchionne turned around the fortunes of Fiat and Chrysler, bringing the two companies together and turning them into the world’s seventh-largest carmaker. Through his passion, vision and determination, he oversaw a return to profit and further global expansion. His achievements have been described as ‘the stuff of legend’.

A key milestone of his time at FCA was the public flotation of Ferrari, freeing up the Prancing Horse to soar to ever-greater heights of design and engineering achievement.

Tan Sri Vincent Tan, founder of the Berjaya Corporation, H.R. Owen Group parent company, commented, “It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Mr Marchionne.  The world has lost an outstanding businessman, leader and visionary.  He will be very much missed.” His sentiments were echoed by Mehmet Dalman, Chairman H.R. Owen Group, who noted, “Sergio Marchionne will be remembered as an exceptional businessman and dealmaker who turned around the Fiat Group after the financial crisis and led the company and its brands such as Ferrari to great success.  Everyone at the H.R. Owen group extends our best wishes to his family and friends at this time.”

Ken Choo, CEO, H.R. Owen Group summed up the feelings of everyone in the company, most especially the team at the group’s Ferrari dealerships: “Sergio Marchionne was an inspirational leader whose presence and success could be felt through brands such as Ferrari, that H.R.
