In the 21^st Century it is very difficult to imagine the world which gave birth to the Bentley S1 Continental. It was an age of elegance, of luxury and mild decadence. A world in which the British Aristocracy were making a final bid to encourage post-war Britain to return to the ‘Downton Abbey’ age it understood and pined for.

Oozing with charm and a wistful nod to the long-gone era of top hats and tails, of debutants balls and country house parties, comes this exemplary example of British luxury at its best. The 1956 Bentley S1 Continental, with chassis No BC68BG, was created for such an icon of this age; The Honourable Herbert Robin Cayzer of Bletchingdon Park near Oxford, son of the famous shipping magnet, who later went on to become 2nd Baron Rotherwick.

As only 45 right hand drive S1 Continentals were ever made, these iconic masterpieces are possibly the most sought after of all post-war Bentleys. This stunning Park Ward coupe is a superb exemplar of this rare and loved beauty with its walnut interior, exquisite leather seats and immaculate overall condition. It even contains the original tool kit, though we hope this is never required.
The car left its Chelsea home in 1971 to become part of a prestigious collection in Switzerland, where it was admired and nurtured. It has a carefully preserved history file which includes copies of the original factory chassis cards.
