Argentina emerged victorious against England in one of three action-packed polo matches at last night’s HPA Gaucho International Polo Tournament at The O2.
Captained by Andrea Vianini, the Argentinian team sealed victory during the final seconds of the match following a fighting challenge from team England, lead by captain Jamie Morrison.
A star-studded audience including Denise Van Outen, Zoe Hardman, Natalie Coyle, Ruth Lorenzo and members of the Made in Chelsea cast watched the players arrive in style in a procession of H.R. Owen Maserati cars, before kicking off summer’s glamorous polo season with an adrenaline-filled match.
The event featured an evening filled to the brim with polo and entertainment celebrating Argentinian culture. Guests satisfied their palettes with the smooth taste of Malbec at Europe’s largest Argentine wine village and listened to the high-octane beats of Electro Tango from band Tanghetto interspersed between three exciting polo matches. The evening’s fun continued as guests headed over to indigO2 to watch Strictly’s Vincent and Flavia perform the Electric Tango.
The results of the matches are as follows:

  • Cheval des Andes Argentina defeated IG England with 11 goals to 10
  • Maserati Mexico defeated Royal Salute Scotland with 11 goals to 10
  • Team Hedonism wines defeated Team Merchant Hub

Martin Williams, Managing Director of Gaucho restaurant group comments “Now in its third year, the 2013 HPA Gaucho Polo Tournament has been our most spectacular event yet. Hooves pounded, the world’s best polo players battled, hundreds of bottles of Veuve Clicquot were enjoyed and over 300 varieties of Argentinian wine were tasted under one roof at The O2. We hope our guests enjoyed the evening as much as we did – our biggest challenge is going to be making 2014 even bigger and better!”
