Bugatti appoints Tobias Sühlmann as Head of Exterior Design Creative Development

Bugatti has reinforced its design team and appointed Tobias Sühlmann as the new Head of Exterior Design Creative Development. The 38-year-old joins Bugatti from the design department of the Volkswagen brand, where he has been responsible for the development of the new Arteon, the future Touareg and a large number of concept cars such as the Golf GTE Sport Concept, the sports coupe GTE Concept or the T-Prime GTE Concept over the past ten years, most recently in a management function. In his new position with Bugatti, he reports to Achim Anscheidt, head of the design team.

“Tobias Sühlmann has a great talent and has gained valuable experience,” says Achim Anscheidt. “He is joining our brand at an exciting time when we are working on concepts for the next Bugatti. With his passion for high performance vehicles and his well-developed understanding of brand values, he will be an extremely valuable addition to our highly-qualified design team. We are very pleased to have him on board.”

Tobias Sühlmann is looking forward to the new creative challenge at Bugatti. “The brand has a strong historic aura and is now more fascinating than ever before. No other super sports car brand serves such an exclusive customer group with a tailor-made product that explores the boundaries of technical feasibility at the same time as having such unmistakable design DNA.”

Tobias Sühlmann studied transportation design at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences. He joined Volkswagen directly after completing his degree and spent his first two years in the Design Center Potsdam. Sühlmann grew up near Düsseldorf and now lives with his wife in Berlin.
